New covered entry, foyer, stairs to second floor, beverage service
area and entertainment room on first floor. New master suite on
second floor.
The challenge
was to integrate the new living spaces above and behind the existing
two car garage with the existing living spaces to the right side
of the garage. This was accomplished by the design of a new "central
core" which includes the covered entry, foyer, vertical circulation
and beverage service areas. Each of these spaces is divided from
the others by a glass wall. This creates a very strong visual
upon entering the windowless entry. The visual impact draws the
visitors' attention through the glass walls to a view of the beautifully
landscaped rear yard.
The new central
vertical circulation ties the first and second floors together
at the core of the residence and beverage service area and integrates
the new entertainment area with the existing living and dining
rooms.
